We stumbled across this cool little article on the Garbstore blog this week. Their resident denim expert Jackie, has picked through the brand’s denim offerings to take a closer look.
“Garbstore jeans are constructed of some excellent fabrics and utilise playful, yet subtle detailing to make them stand out from the crowd. Garbstore pick out only the finest Japanese denim and the core fabric is a 14.5oz left hand twill selvedge produced by Kuroki, one of the biggest denim mills in the Okayama Prefecture. This denim has a very rich indigo shade, so the more you wear, the more beautiful the jeans become. For those who prefer a light weight denim, we also offer a premium 11oz broken twill denim with red selvedge and a lighter blue shade.
As a brand, Garbstore always takes references from vintage garments and adds a modern twist to them. Their jeans are a great example of this philosophy, as each pair features a small branded safety pin to pay hommage to laundry pins that were used in the old days. Another cool characteristic is the vintage gripper tape inside waistband of the jeans. These tapes were used on a lot of trouser designs in the past but is a feature you’ll struggle to find on jeans nowadays. It’s little additions like this that make Garbstore jeans different.
For me, the most important thing about any jeans is the fit. If you have a pair of jeans that fit right, you’ll be happy to wear them every single day. There are three types of fit in the Garbstore denim line. They are Revis L-type, Reeve type III and Revis W-type. The Revis L-type is straight cut jean with slightly tapered legs. This is the best-selling fit among all cuts. The Reeve type III is a fit with a bit more room in the thigh, which tapers towards the ankle bone. If you’re into low waisted baggy jeans, this is the one you will love. For the Revis W-type, it is a relaxed fit with its loose leg opening. These are designed for those who always fancy wide cut jeans.
All of our jeans are available in a wide range of washes with different individual treatments, which are washed and brushed individually by experienced craftsmen. All of the jeans in the line have their own characters. That’s the beauty of them!”
