For the last few seasons we’ve been greatly impressed with the quality of several collections hailing from Scandinavia. Several young brands are emerging with fresh takes on heritage pieces and Sweden’s Velour is currently one of the front runners. The brand was founded by Per Andersson in 1997, when he began rummaging through the piles of clothing left over from his grandmother’s old ready-to-wear shop. They boast many perfect fits and beautiful detailing, leaving it up to the wearer to create his or her own individual style. The Autumn/Winter 2011 lookbook highlights some core styles that Velour does best. Although we’re still holding out for denim, chinos are featured in several new colors and washes alongside t-shirts and thick cable knitwear. Much of the shirting is constructed from a few of our other favourite fabrics such as chambray, poplin and corduroy. You can visit Velour’s website at www.velour.se.
